"When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence."
—Ansel Adams

The photographs featured in these galleries have for the most part been shot on black and white film, black and white infrared film or as color slides. More recently, I have started to explore the world of digital photography in combination with film. All of the limited edition images are available in a variety of sizes, print finishes and display options ranging from traditional matted and framed photographs to mounted on aluminum and floated. Please contact me to discuss options and pricing.

Memory Archive

"It is singular how soon we lose the impression of what ceases to be constantly before us. A year impairs, a luster obliterates. There is little distinct left without an effort of memory, then indeed the lights are rekindled for a moment – but who can be sure that the imagination is not the torch-bearer?" —Lord Byron

This gallery shows a few works from a series that is part of an ongoing exploration of the impermanence of memory and the key role that it plays in our preservation and continuity of self. Through a variety of media that includes drawings, sculpture and sculptural installation, encaustic paintings, and photography I am exploring the fascinating and enigmatic realm of memory and how we create our personal identity over time. Having kept a journal from the age of 13 I decided on the objects of books, papers, bookshelves and libraries as the subject matter to express my ideas.

Italian Testaments of Time

"From antiquarianism to archaeology, from romantic poetry to post-modern photography, writers, artists, and scientists have framed specific sites as embodying a history that is in the process of disappearing. The disappearance, the threat of loss, is key to the attraction of ruins and to their essential ambiguity. The ambiguity becomes a fertile ground of metaphor...their decay is irresistible to us because it allows us to perceive the passage of time as irresistible." —Michael S. Roth

This collection of limited edition black and white photographs were shot on film by me and internationally renowned Italian photographer Olivero Olivieri. Working together we traveled through 8 major regions of Italy including Abruzzi, Basilicata, Campania, Lazio, Puglia, Sardegna, Sicily and Tuscany visiting 8 breathtaking Unesco World Heritage Sites along with several other stunning locations spanning 5,000 years of archaeological history. The images themselves explore the timeless theme of legacy, and the dynamic dualities of fragility and strength, chance and intention, absence and presence, death and resurrection, decay and beauty, along with the ongoing dance between antiquity and modernity.
